We are very pleased to be able to welcome and provide additional information for walkers along the Wales Coast Path.

The Aberystwyth section of the Ceredigion Coast Path (part of the Wales Coast Path) runs very close to our Tŷ Pysgotwyr (Fisherman’s Cottage) holiday home, making it an easy stopping point at the end of a long day’s trek. After that, why not use the holiday cottage as a base for exploring Aberystwyth for a few days?

Tŷ Pysgotwyr has all the facilities you’d wish for, including clean and comfy beds, a washer/dryer for getting your clothes fresh again, a fully equipped kitchen, local bus timetables, sea tide tables, nearby camping and trekking gear shops, a central location for transport and entertainment, and gorgeous, restful views over Cardigan Bay. All that, and we’re dog-friendly!

Finally, coastal conditions can change quickly, so stay safe – our Top Ten Tips:

Be prepared. Always check the weather and tides just before you leave. Brush up on water safety. In an emergency, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
Know your route. The Wales Coast Path is on Google Street View – go over the section you plan to walk so you know what to expect, and make sure you have a map with you.
Connect! Let someone know when to expect you. Ensure your mobile is fully charged. As a back-up, consider investing in a battery pack.
Stay energised. Take food and water with you, even of you think you won’t need it.
Wear the right gear. Good quality, dry, waterproof clothing is a must. Take spare socks and tops, even if the weather looks good. Wear shoes or boots designed for walking.
Carry sunscreen: Remember, strong winds can cause sunburn too.
Caution is better than regret. Stay away from edges and overhangs along the Coast Path. Do not climb cliffs or sit under them.
Road safety. Take care when walking along or crossing roads and railways.
Respect wildlife: Discover the wildlife on beaches but remember to look and not touch.
