Events
Ceredigion offers a fantastic range of exciting events to visitors year round, with many of these centred in Aberystwyth, the unofficial capital of Mid Wales.
Some particular gems to keep an eye on include:
- WOW Film Festival & WOW Abercon. Usually taking place through March, Wales One World is Wales’ longest running film festival and the only UK festival dedicated to showcasing films from Africa, Asia & Latin America: “thought provoking, eye-opening films from places you rarely get to see on screen.” Alongside this, WOW Abercon is a family-friendly community anime convention featuring stalls, games, animation workshops, and competitions!
- Community Events page. Extending further afield than just Aberystwyth and Ceredigion, this constantly updating page shines light on interesting events taking place at smaller venues, from poetry festivals to Afro-Caribbean nights, community celebrations, recovery events, and history/metal-detecting groups.
- The Aberystwyth & Ceredigion County Show. A rural show, always held on the second Saturday in June, and one of the largest one-day shows in Wales, attracting visitors from far and wide. In recent years, they’ve extended into the evening, showcasing Welsh pop stars such as Dafydd Iwan and Bryn Fôn.
- Musicfest Aberystwyth. Est 1987 and now one of the UK’s finest music festivals, Musicfest combines a world-class music festival with a summer music school, an exciting and innovative week in July that attracts an international collective of artists and audiences.
- Discover Ceredigion. This events page, updated regularly, highlights major events in Ceredigion, including Craft festivals, Food & Drink festivals, Agricultural shows, Music festivals and choirs, seasonal events (e.g., Hallowe’en/Calan Gaeaf, Christmas, and Easter), the 2026 National Road Cycling Championships, and the National Eisteddfod – one of the jewels of Wales’ cultural heritage, held in Ceredigion in 2026.
- New Quay Music Festival. Billed as a celebration of community, creativity, and connection, this summer event is set against the gorgeous, atmospheric scenery of Cardigan Bay! It features vibrant performances from artists local and national, some in the open air, others tucked away in cosy venues across the town.
- The Big Tribute Festival. Aberystwyth festival taking place over three days in August each year, showcasing the very best in musical tribute acts.
- Rali Ceredigion (Rally Ceredigion). One for rally fans! Ceredigion is fast becoming a staple on the international rally scene. In September 2026, for the third year in a row, a crucial round of the 2026 FIA European Historic Rally Championship will be hosted here.
- Aberystwyth Comedy Festival. This October comedy festival (a sibling festival to the Machynlleth Comedy Festival each March) features an excellent range of comedy talent, all within Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
- Aberteifi Live. An assemblage of various local theatres, music venues, artists and coordinators throughout Cardigan, Aberteifi Live celebrates Cardigan’s musical heritage and curates a vibrant year-round lineup of music performances. Don’t miss Gŵyl Aberteifi Live Festival at the end of October!
- Aberystwyth Vegan Market. One of the ‘Big 7’ vegan markets in Wales this year to mark World Vegan Day on 1st November, featuring gourmet street food, home fayre, and ethical arts & crafts.
- Gŵyl Fach Aberporth Festival. A 2-day music festival in July, in the beautiful seaside town of Aberporth.
